Keeping up to speed on advancements in AI can be a full time job these days. Here are some sources of information I have found to be a good mix:

AI Research Journals and Tech News Outlets: Check out the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research and Nature Machine Intelligence. I personally enjoy Ethan Mollick’s One Useful Thing on Substack, the TLDR AI newsletter, and McKinsey publishes a ton of insightful content. For podcasts, The AI Daily Brief is nice and, well, brief! If you like a deeper dive, try NVIDIA’s AI podcast.

Participate in Online Courses and Webinars: Everyone seems to be hosting AI events these days! Just be sure to vet the credentials of the hosts and participants before committing your time.

Follow Thought Leaders and Influential Organizations: Alongside Ethan Mollick and Andrew Ng, Yoshua Bengio, Yann LeCun, and Geoffrey Hinton are some of the most respected figures in AI. Organizations like OpenAI and DeepMind often share valuable insights too.

Explore Current AI Tools and Platforms: Get hands-on experience by using various AI models daily. Understanding their capabilities firsthand is invaluable and you don’t need to allocate too much time here. Just 30 mins a day makes a difference.

Engage in AI Communities and Forums: Reddit’s r/artificial and r/MachineLearning are my go-to spots for discussions. The AI Alignment Forum, Towards Data Science, and of course, GitHub are solid for practical insights and contributions.

Pick up the recent books Superintelligence by Nick Bostrom or Human Compatible by Stuart Russell for more philosophical takes on AI’s future.

Extra Suggestions for Learning (these came from ChatGPT 4o):

Podcast: Check out The AI Alignment Podcast and The TWIML AI Podcast for in-depth conversations and perspectives.

Conferences: Keep an eye on major conferences like NeurIPS and ICML for cutting-edge research and networking opportunities.
